During this process, your company name will then be published in our newsletter for two consecutive months, prior to being formally presented to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval. During the two months waiting period you or another representative of your company are invited to join us at our General Membership Meetings at no charge.

Three-in-One Membership: Membership with SCWBA automatically includes membership with the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA), and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). SCWBA forwards a portion of all dues each year to WBA and NAHB to maintain your membership.  All membership begins at the local level, and all three offer benefits of membership.

Purposes: The South Central Wisconsin Builders Association has been formed to promote, encourage and increase the public’s knowledge of the various services available to it in the residential and light commercial construction industry, to educate the public on home improvements and other subjects useful to the individual and beneficial to the community, to improve the quality and character of residential and light commercial construction in Rock and Green Counties through the provision and exchange of information, the development and establishment of professional standards, and the promotion and protection of legitimate interests of the public, to coordinate, educate and provide activities to members in order to satisfy these purposes.

Membership Dues: Dues are $450.00 a year for Builder Members and $450.00 a year for Associate Members. Dues automatically enroll members to the Wisconsin Builders Association ($160) and the National Association of Home Builders ($182).  SCWBA’s portion is $108 per year, per member.

Newsletter: The South Central Wisconsin Builders Association publishes a monthly newsletter and e-mails it to all members.  Members are welcome to contribute articles or items of interest. Please submit this information to the office via written correspondence prior to the 25th of each month for consideration, faxes are welcome (608) 752-7721.

Committees: Many members volunteer a few hours each year to participate on a committee. All members and member employees are invited to participate on committees. We have many different types of committees, which currently include the following: Membership, Public Relations, Education, Scholarships, Governmental Affairs, Build A Better Wisconsin, Home Show, Golf Outing, and Parade of Homes.  To sign-up to join a committee, call Jenny at the SCWBA office or the corresponding committee chairperson. You will find a complete list of committee chairs in your Membership Directory.

Meetings: Membership Meetings are held as indicated above.  Meetings are typically held in the evening, however, some noon meetings are planned.  Evening General Membership Meetings in May, September and December begins with a social hour at 6:00 p.m., followed by our dinner meeting at 7:00 p.m., at the conclusion of committee reports we generally have a program. It is our goal to offer a good mix of educational and entertaining programs. Cost to attend is usually $15 per person.  June is reserved for our Golf Outing, and in December we hold our Installation of New Officers and Directors, along with an awards presentation to the Builder and Associate Member of the Year.

The Board of Directors meets on the second Tuesday of the month (except August). The meeting is held at the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association office located at 4450 Milton Avenue, Suite 105, Janesville, at 3:30 pm. All members are welcome to attend.

Why are you a member of SCWBA?

Who is a member?

Everyone in your company! Membership to the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA) is held by the Member Company. The by-laws of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) and those of SCWBA require a primary contact person for each Member Company. However, all employees of a Member Company are welcome to participate in all activities, events, and committees of SCWBA.

Who is the primary contact?
The primary contact is normally the person who receives all mailings from SCWBA, WBA and NAHB. The primary contact also holds the exclusive right to vote and hold office in the local, state and national associations.

It is the benefit of each Member Company to establish as the primary contact the person who is most likely to be an active and involved member of the Association.

Sometimes people move on, or something changes, and they can no longer fulfill the role as primary contact. The Member Company may authorize a new primary contact at any time, but SCWBA must be notified in order to effect this change.

What is a secondary member?
Any Member Company may have as many active members, participating in year-round committees, provided that the Member Company holds one full membership. The secondary members are welcome at all SCWBA events. When attending the General Membership Meeting a secondary member will be charged for their dinner.

What is dual membership?
Any Member Company may have a dual membership for a specified fee. The dual membership entitles an additional individual employed within the Member Company to all mailings from SCWBA, an additional listing in SCWBA’s Membership Directory, the meal at General Membership Meetings at no charge, and may hold a seat on the Board of Directors. However, if both member contacts are elected to the Board of Directors, they will be entitled to one vote for the firm.

If you have any questions or need further clarification on details of your membership, please contact Jenny at the SCWBA office (608) 752-8075.
